Poetry is EVERYWHERE and EVERYONE can read, write and enjoy it.
To coincide with the launch of Public. Open. Space., I released four short videos for teachers, librarians and workshop leaders on how to incorporate poetry and technology activities into your workshops and lesson plans.
Part 1 provides an introduction to the key themes of Public. Open. Space. and links to the Australian education curriculum. It also explains how the poems in the book might look a bit different to those you learned in school, including accidental poems for non-traditional poetry audiences.
Part 2 includes a range of discussion-based activities and asks whether poems on the page are taken more seriously than digital or performance poetry (including examples of other digital poets for participants to research and enjoy).
Part 3 is full of reflecting and analytical activities for students and workshop participants, and reflects on the role of digital poetry in 21st Century literature.
Finally, Part 4 includes poetry, technology and creative writing activities to help learners start to synthesise some of these ideas and put them into practice.
Public. Open. Space. is available now from Fremantle Press, your favourite bookshop or your local library.
