And another thing: Strategic Plans vs strategic planning

When arts orgs and boards don’t know the difference between Strategic Plans and strategic planning, they risk focusing on self-perpetuation over purpose.

And yes, these two things obviously overlap. But I’ve noticed recently that boards and organisations don’t always know what they mean, and don’t always know what they need. So, my latest ‘and another thing’ vlog includes some prompts to help you work that out, starting with:

  1. What kind of crisis?
  2. How urgent is it?
  3. How much is up for grabs?

This rant also made it into Alan Harrison’s Scene Change blog for US-based Arts Journal.
